Two Shapes Sculpture

These are part of a series of sculptures I was making before learning of the Labanotation and started working on my laban sculpture series in 2022. It was truly a revelation discovery as the ceramic tile sculptures I was making had a very strange similarity and connection to the shapes and forms of the movement notation. I have been making films about dance for the last five or six years exploring dance in sports contexts as part of my sculptural practice. Inspired by minimalism, the Russian constructivists and colour, I liked the idea that these works feel like found relics from some unfamiliar place, real or imagined, a reference to a kind of futuristic team of an unknown sport.
